Investing in skills

We invest millions of pounds each year in the development of skills as they are the life blood of our industry! This includes running two dedicated academies, one in Basingstoke and the 4Life Academy in Birmingham, which opened in January 2013.

We invest £2.5m a year in the development of our staff, ranging from apprenticeships and management training to our award-winning Management Development Learning courses that prepare our future leaders.  We also offer 25,000 hours of work experience a year to nearly 300 people keen to get an insight into the industry through our Opening Doors programme; everyone who does an Opening Doors placement gets an interview for an apprenticeship.

Each year we celebrate the constribution of our trainees in the unique 'Trainee of the Year' event, where a short list of trainees is whittled down to our annual winner.
